As an extension to our SS19 'LØST SØULS' CØLLECTIØN this new collection will follow similar themes of self doubt but with a twist of relational and political/social issues. This collection is dedicated to Hong Kong due to the recent outbreaks in protest.

There are a total of three pieces in this collection: "Escape, Burning Bridges, and Mixed Emotions." Escape is about holding onto a toxic relationship due to self weakness and insecurity. Burning Bridges is about letting go of those who prevent you from growing as an individual. Mixed Emotions is about being lost in one's gaze and developing unassertive emotions. The garments in this collection are printed on Champion tees for maximum quality and comfort.

THE BEHIND THE SCENES PROCESS

With people curious about the behind the scenes process of how REVERT creates its garments, this blog post will give insight as to the designing procedure and printing techniques used. Before heading into the design a lot of brainstorming is done regarding themes, social issues to address, and how to express certain emotions through our garments. After preparing a spreadsheet of ideas and topics, graphics are designed around those themes. These themes are made up of quotes or images. Often times many of the garments are destroyed if they aren’t portraying the themes effectively or if the graphics are visually unpleasing in the final stage of approval. Currently all of our garments are made of 100% cotton to ensure maximum comfort and quality. Graphics are screen printed with non-toxic PVC free water-based inks to ensure your safety. Pieces that have a semi colon tag are made out of recycled nylon and polyester drawstring bags, sewn with a triple run stitch. Lastly quality control is done to remove any loose threads or repair damaged aspects of the garments.

This collection is dedicated to those who struggle with mental health illnesses. The garments in SS19 carry themes of the things that put weight on our mental shoulders. Featured pieces like "Dystopia" express the feeling of being lost and confused in the world. The dystopian world is of an unpleasant environment with dehumanizing aspects and for one's mind to be in such space is devastating. The act of finding one's self is translated through the elements such as the rose wrapped in the trinity triangle of balance; symbolizing a promise, hope, and a new beginning. The "Distorted Vision" pieces reveal the idea of how individuals are in a constant search for security and identity. The invisible wall preventing the path of life to be seen clearly is the idea of which is being communicated. Both the "Dystopia" and "Distorted Vision" pieces feature a semicolon tag towards the right sleeves. Our goal with this collection is to build a community for those who feel neglected, abandoned, astray, despised, oppressed, and isolated.

PROJECT SEMICOLON MAKES AN APPEARANCE IN SS19

With CØLLECTIØN II focusing on mental health illnesses, Project Semicolon is making a feature in the form of a woven tag. Project semicolon is an American mental health non-profit organization which works with suicide prevention. They were founded in 2014 and their work primarily focuses on those dealing with depression, suicide, addiction, and self-injury. For more information please visit, www.projectsemicolon.com.

These tags will have the iconic semicolon symbol on it representing, "the story (of life) is not over." It also features a purple thread to symbolize the themes of royalty and wisdom. They will be attached to the right hand sleeves of the garments so it will be easily visible. Our goal is to bring recognition to the moments in which people suffer and to build a community within these groups. Awareness to mental health can save lives as well as educate the minds of those who are unaware or have a lack of understanding to the topic. These tags will be available on select pieces only.

The inspiration for this addition to the collection was from the popularity of semicolon tattoos. Many people would get a semicolon tattooed on their wrist to symbolize their personal choice to fight for their life. The symbol holds such sentimental value and it is a world wide epidemic that is growing bigger than ever. So we decided to bring the semicolon into our next collection as the themes of the collection are based off of mental health. Founder @16thKind of REVERT CØLLECTIVE personally struggles with mental health so this upcoming collection has been created with a very personal approach. It will contain hidden messages which can be interpreted by anyone in their own way. The release date for CØLLECTIØN II is March 31st, 2019.

CØLLECTIØN II: "XXXX XXXXX" IN PRODUCTION

The next collection is on its way to production. After changing up the production plan a lot of extra time was taken into getting the procedure right. After numerous trial and error stages we found the right material, ink, and process for making our garments. Some pieces will feature a screen printed graphics, direct to garment printed graphics, as well as embroidered products. Currently we are aiming to have 20-25 total pieces in this line.

GEORGE JANKO'S MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE

On Internet personality, Mark Dohner's podcast, "Livin' Large" Episode 10, guest speaker George Janko stated, "if people hate you, you're doing something right. That means you're doing something that they want from you, so if you're getting bullied in school, that means you have something they don't have and they want it."

I found this to be quite motivational as in society there will always be individuals who want to shut you down. It can be get into your head sometimes and you got to fight against it. Especially in the art world it's a common thing where "shit talk" is present. It's the nature of a competitive spirited industry.

CØLLECTIØN II IS UNDER DEVELOPMENT

The next SS19 collection is currently being designed and finalized. As for the message we are aiming to shed light on those who struggle with mental health. Our goal is to bring awareness to the situation as well as having created an inclusive community in which individuals can experience through these garments. It is aimed to launch sometime during February or March depending on the development and production time. As for the floor plans the products will feature a wider variety of graphics as well as cost efficient production plans. This will allow for more affordable options for customers. We also plan on adding exclusive limited edition pieces to this up coming collection.

THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE SCENES

For over a decade now I have been documenting my life in a journal. From childhood memories, lifestyle changes, mental health, and insecurities, it is all on that paper. These clutters of thoughts just continued to pile on top of each other as time progressed. But it was until musical artist and former DJ, rhêtorík made an appearance at the Apple Williamsburg store on September 19th of 2018. His story and performance was inspiring and his quote “turn your insecurities into art” struck me. Since then I have decided to integrate my deepest thoughts into my clothing with hidden messages, which can also be interpreted by others in their own personal way.
